Hi Bikini Whisperer,
I desperately need your help! Spring season is right around the corner, and I’m in no way, shape, or form ready to bare it all in a bikini. I need a new swimsuit, preferably one with slimming features. Does that exist? Although I am actively dieting and working out, I can’t come to terms with being in a bikini quite yet. Is there a flattering piece that you recommend I wear till I lose my winter weight?
We can't get into this question without saying first: You are perfect as you are. You are perfect as you are. For sure, we support an active lifestyle and eating well. But please believe us when we say that conforming to the predominant idea of beauty is a losing proposition. You are beautiful as you are. Right this minute. Everything's fine. Read Janne Robinson’s interview for tips on self-love — you’ll be ready to hit the beach feeling great in no time!
Now please — give yourself a break. And that said, know that there are suits meant to slim everything down. If that helps give you a boost of confidence for the moment, then we say — go for it. Just do so knowing that there is nothing more alluring than confidence — and that includes a flat belly.
Quick tip: A super-plunging neckline elongates the body, while a high-waist stitch draws the eye upward, creating an hourglass illusion.
Color-blocking is always fun, but in this one-piece, it actually functions as a slimming detail — especially if you're bottom heavy — by drawing attention to the waist and upper chest.
This number has it all — a band that cinches the waist and a deep V-neckline with perfectly placed, contrasting colors: #triplethreat
A busy print is a great way to distract the eye from any specific part. Plus, the front knot draws attention to the center of the body, creating a narrower frame.
You could never go wrong with a frong piece: The high cut offers an illusion of longer legs.
A classic high-waist bottom flatters most body types — but this particular one, with angular mesh inserts, adds a slimming bonus.
An upwardly angled print, like this one, is instantly slimming.
Ruching is by far one of the best ways to hide a belly, especially when paired with a sexy plunging neckline.
The side panels here take inches off the waistline, as the darker shade draws the eye.
If horizontal stripes widen, then vertical stripes lengthen. Keep this rule in mind when shopping for stripes.
Playing with textures, angles and shape placements is like a science experiment. This mixture lifts, cinches, and hugs all the right parts.
Another fabulous way to cinch the waist: a thick self-tie belt and a busy, allover print.
Black is always super-slimming — but this one-piece literally loves every gal’s body. It narrows the waist, shows off cleavage and hugs the hips.
