Sometimes fairy tales do come true — at least when they're back up by decades of hard work, grit, talent, and fortitude.

That's the story, in a nutshell, of Misty Copeland, who yesterday was named the first African-American ballerina to become a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater in the organization's 75-year history.

If you know the ballet world, you know this is a huge deal. If you're not yet familiar with Copeland's work — despite the Time magazine cover and 60 Minutes segment — the first substitute to seeing her live is perhaps this video. After that, check out her much-lauded memoir, Life in Motion

And if her incredibly inspirational abilities have you wanting to try your hand at dancing, we don't blame you. Maybe starting with a Ballet Beautiful class can kick off a new and amazing experience with dance.
