Daily Splash: Surf Couture—The $1.3M Board You Need
Surfer girls hold on tight. We found the board of your dreams. Introducing The Rampart, the world's most expensive surfboard.
With 20 years of designing under his belt, New Zealand-based Roy Stuart created his pièce de résistance—a 10-foot-6-inch longboard made out of rare kahikatea wood (only found in New Zealand) and (wait for it) 23 carat gold! The latter is for the painting of a lion, outlined in red resin. That's for affect, but the wood and a special fin made for a very smooth and fast ride.
“Life is short, get the best if you can," Stuart said in a recent interview with the NY Daily News. "Price is just a number, but the experience is forever." And with a price tag of $1.3 million, it must be quite the experience.
What spot would you want to surf at with a million-plus-dollar board?
