Posted by Bikini Owner in Bikini Top, Bikini Whisperer, Bust Size, Personal Shopper

Welcome to our bikini advice column, featuring the hard-earned wisdom of our very own swimsuit master, the Bikini Whisperer. Today, we hear from a woman on the hunt for a perfectly fitting bikini top — and the Bikini Whisperer has some ideas for how to handle. Looking for some advice of your own? Drop us a line!

Hi Bikini Whisperer,

I’m shopping around for a bikini for my upcoming winter getaway. I would love to use the Shop by Body Type feature available on the site but need a little help when it comes to bust sizing. I’d like to know what bikini top best flatters and supports my bust. Could you please advise?

Xoxo,

Bikini Hunter

Hi Bikini Hunter,

Finding the right fit can be overwhelming, especially when generalizing body shapes. So let me give you a brief breakdown of the best bikini tops for different bust sizes. Please keep in mind that this is a general shopping guideline — it's impossible to squash all our beautiful uniqueness into generalities. Use this to narrow down swimwear selections and send us an email if you need more tips.

Small Busts (A cup to small B cup)

Triangle tops are a hit for every bust size, but this one in particular flatters A cups to small Bs. The adjustable triangle allows for sliding and offers side boob action that small chested gals can easily pull off. The rule to remember here is: the smaller the top, the larger your breasts appear – the more you cover, the smaller they'll look. Play with it to find your most flattering placement.

Luckily, if you’re a small A or B, support isn’t an issue – you can freely wear a bandeau. Although most bandeaus hide your shape, this KORE top isn’t so average — the halter-neck tie lends added shape you may desire. It accentuates your cleavage lines and adds dimension below the breasts. (Added bonus: it's reversible!)

KORE Phoebe Top

House of Au+ORA bikini tops tend to hug and snug the tatas — even if you normally don’t have cleavage, you’ll see it with this top. Its thick straps pull up and the wide, curved neckline follows your breast shape, while the fabric holds it all in place — we call it a major win!

Medium Busts (full B cup to C cup)

Lucky you — basically, B to C cups can pull off just about any style. Ideally, you’d like medium support, comfort and a silhouette that enhances your shape. This KORE top does just that. A thick, below-the-breast band is a great alternative to uncomfortable wire support.

KORE Athena Top

If you're looking to turn heads, this is your ideal top. Front, adjustable drawstrings are the secret to next-level cleavage. The floral print does its part to add a hint of sweetness to the look.

Large Busts (full C cup and larger)

Voluptuous babes, we get it — it’s all about the support, coverage and comfort you need without looking too matronly. Right? Bustier tops with full cups and underwire are your best bet. Here, you can add the straps for extra support. Body Glove Fame Top

Broad bands are effective in that they support and hug your ribcage — but they tend to dig in your sides. Opt for adjustable, broad wrap-around ties, which adjust to your exact body measurement. Again, lined cups and soft ties around the neck are key when selecting a comfortable suit.

Forget pulling your top up just about every single minute — elastic bands that sit at the top of your chest and below the bust will reduce this to a minimum.
