BIKINI BFF: Soo Yeon Lee
Have you ever tried to play ping-pong in crystal-encrusted stilettos?
We haven't, but we're guessing it can't be easy. Leave it to Soo Yeon Lee, world-class athlete and U.S. Open Championship table tennis champ, to work her sexy swerve at the table, pairing sky-high heels with a strapless red gown at a NYC table tennis event. That sense of style and sass has earned her the attention of not just the world of sport, but of Hollywood as well. Lee jumped from the ping-pong circuit to the studio lot, appearing on Entourage, modeling in ad campaigns, and appearing at events surrounding the decidely un-sporty worlds of Art Basel, Fashion's Night Out, and more. As a personality, Lee makes quite an impact, blending athletic prowess and focus with a lighthearted joie de vivre. Playboy magazine has called her the one of the world's sexiest athletes, and her Instagram feed (@pingponggirl, of course) is chock full of action shots mixed in with chummy selfies with celeb pals and gorgeous locales. All in a day's work, right?
We asked Lee to bring us into her world a bit, quizzing her on her favorite shores, how she stays in shape, and more. Read on to see what she had to say.
BIKINI: Tell us your favorite beach and your ideal day there.
LEE: There are so many beaches I love — so I can't pick up just one — but these days I need some rest, so I would say the Maldives. I would love to be there relaxing in the sun, swimming in the clear blue water, reading books and eating sweet tropical fruit.
What's your go-to workout right now?
I exercise six times a week, alternating running, yoga, Pilates, and boxing. And of course, playing ping pong keeps me in great shape.
Which beauty product can you absolutely not live without?
I've been using Clarins sunscreen for a long time. My skin is sensitive, and I had bad reactions to other sunscreens, but this one is great: it's oil free and can be used as a make-up primer, too. I love it.
Please share your all-time favorite song — one that gets you singing loud whenever you hear it.
"Imagine" by John Lennon.
