Five trendy beverages that never go out of style

Forget “cheeseburger in paradise.” We’re all about the cocktail that goes with it. A sunny destination vacation isn’t complete without a refreshing elixir, and we rounded up our favorite classic concoctions in some tropical places. Bottom’s up!

Punch Bowl
There's nothing like sharing, and many restaurants and bars are giving everyone at the table some love with punch bowls, fit for groups. Whether you're hitting up a tiki bar or getting hipstered down at a dive bar, punch bowls have given groups more than a buzz in top cities across the nation. The bowls are favorites thanks to heavy pours of rum, fresh juices and often cognac. Try it at Workshop Kitchen + Bar in Palm Springs or Bombos Beach Bar in Barbados.

Housemade Sangria
Speaking of large fruity batch pours, sangria will never go out of style and, thanks to the hot summer heat (breaking 100 in many top cities!), sangria is one of the best ways to cool off. It's easy to make and goes well with summer dishes. More importantly, fresh fruit mixed with red wine and brandy is all the summertime rage! Try house made sangria at El Cid in Los Angeles or Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant & Wine Bar in Miami.

Mojito
While this beverage is simply amazing year-round, it seems to pop best in the summer time thanks to the white rum, lively mint and fresh lime. Replace the mint with basil for earthy flavors and flashbacks of running in fields of grass on summer vacation. Throw in some bongo drums and guitar to recreate a hot day in Cuba (where the drink originated). Try the mojito at Versailles (a Cuban joint!) in Miami or Mojitos Rum Bar in New Orleans.

Rosé Wine
If you want a non-fussy straight pour, order a glass of rose. It's refreshing and pairs well with summer cuisine. It's also easy breezy when you need to show up at a picnic or a rooftop party. Also, because they're rarely aged in expensive oak, bottles will tend to be on the cheaper side. Try it at Mosaic Wine Bar in San Diego or at Mar'sel at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Vodka & Lemonade
There's no need for a complicated cocktail when you straight up pour some vodka into lemonade, and most lounges and hotel bars have been serving up a variation of this refreshing concoction. There's no better time to drink lemonade than the summer, and freshly made, ice-cold lemonade goes best with hot summer days—and vodka of course. Try a vodka lemonade at Hilton Fort Lauderdale. Or at W Vieques.
